Community Partnerships
Community Partnerships
Throughout our communities we work with charitable organisations, take leading roles in supporting fundraisers and maintain strong relationships with our partners.
We are constantly evaluating how we can play a meaningful role in aiding organisations whose values and cultures mirror our own. Our people, our facilities, our retail branches and our suppliers all play their part in creating innovative initiatives that raise vital funds.
Tirlán is also proud to directly support our communities through donations of funding and product via our branches and facilities where we have active fundraising and engagement networks.
Real Impact
In 2024 Tirlán and its employees have chosen Aware as their charity partner. As part of the partnership arrangement, many of Tirlán’s network of 2,300 employees will fundraise for the mental health charity. Tirlán will also make a corporate donation to support Aware’s invaluable work in communities nationwide.
The move will also raise awareness of the essential role Aware plays in Ireland today, as the national organisation supporting people impacted by depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and related mood conditions. In 2023, Aware directly supported up to 40,000 people via its support and education services.
In 2023 alone, Tirlán and its employees raised €116,000 for worthy causes and created a positive impact in communities across the south-east, midlands and north-east of Ireland. Employees raised funds which were shared among the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, the Father McGrath Centre in Kilkenny and Amber Women’s Refuge.
Tirlán also provides significant financial commitment to agricultural shows and food festivals, such as Savour Kilkenny and the West Waterford Festival of Food.
Tour de Tirlán
Over 60 cyclists from Tirlán got on their bikes in a bid to raise over €75,000 for charity in 2024. The annual 'Tour de Tirlán' has evolved over the past 11 years, and the one-day event leads cyclists, including Tirlán employees and farmer-suppliers, from across the farmer-owned co-operative on one of four distances - 45km, 95km, 136km, and 201km. Since its inception, the total funds raised from this annual event to date stands at €401,000.
Tirlán Mountain Challenge
In 2024, over 50 Tirlán employees scaled the majestic Maumturks mountains in the Connemara National Park on Friday, October 11 and 12 to complete the Tirlán Mountain Challenge. Over the two days, the team completed more than 26km and climbed over 1,800 metres. Participants embarked on this challenge with the shared goal of supporting Tirlán’s charity partner, Aware. So far over €36,000 has been raised as part of the challenge.
Community events
Tirlán sponsors many events, big and small, that are important to our communities; we also support many agricultural shows, food fairs and other events throughout the country, which are a mainstay of many rural communities.
Tirlán provides significant financial commitment to agricultural shows and food festivals, such as Savour Kilkenny and the West Waterford Festival of Food. We provide consumers with a flavour of the rich produce that Ireland has to offer.
Through GAIN Pet Nutrition, we deliver much needed donations to dog shelters and charities around the country. GAIN Equine Nutrition is a key supporter and sponsor of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust. In 2023 Tirlán was proud to provide a direct financial contribution of €5,000 to the Riding for the Disabled and assist the charitable organisation with highlighting their nation-wide volunteer programme.
