Minister Pippa Hackett marks Operation Biodiversity target
Minister of State for Agriculture Pippa Hackett has helped mark Glanbia Ireland and its farm family suppliers hitting their Operation Biodiversity target of planting 100,000 native trees and hedgerow plants one year ahead of schedule.
The Minister with responsibility for Land Use and Biodiversity visited the CountryLife Branch in Tullamore, Co Offaly to hear more about the work being carried out on family farms to leave space for nature.
“It is great to see Operation Biodiversity achieve its target a full year ahead of schedule. It is important that we help farmers enhance biodiversity on the land through actions that will continue to deliver for years to come,” said the Green Party Minister of State.
Glanbia Ireland recently marked its milestone achievement by offering 10,000 free native trees including Alder, Birch, Crab Apple and Oak for pick up through its CountyLife Garden Centres. The Operation Biodiversity programme continues for 2022.
