General News

Glanbia Ireland is pleased to be able to offer our farmer shareholders access to a free and confidential counselling.

In times of crises or emotional distress, our farmer shareholders and their immediate family will now have peace of mind that the Support Services for Glanbia Farmer Shareholders (EAP Programme) offers the practical assistance and emotional support required.

Vhi have now provided a service which has been needed for a long time. At such a stressful time of year with the calving season now commencing, we feel it is the right time to introduce the service to our farmer shareholders.

Examples of some supports available include:

  • Advice on mental health challenges.
  • Addictions.
  • Financial pressures on and off farm.
  • Bereavement counselling.
  • Relationships and struggles with parenting.

Glanbia Co-op Chairman John Murphy said: “This is a great resource for our farmer shareholders, as it is important to promote positive mental health. We’re all aware of the stresses that running a farm, like any business, can bring. We would hope that those who need it make good use of this counselling and information service by Vhi, and to remember that as much as you look after your animal’s health it is important to take a step back and look after yourself first. You do not have to be a Vhi Member to avail of this service”.

Our farmer shareholders will also have access to a counsellor locally for up to six face to face counselling sessions per issue. Whether you decide to get in touch by phone or email, support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In addition, Support Services for Glanbia Farmer Shareholders also provides access to a Specialist Information Service, Coaching Programmes, Trauma Support and an Interactive Online Portal. We encourage any of our farmer shareholders who feel they may benefit to take advantage of this service.
